Which AP courses are seen as most impactful by colleges?

Hi there! So, I've been thinking about my schedule for senior year, and I want to make sure I take AP courses that will look really impressive on my college apps. Specific suggestions would be awesome.

AP courses that are seen as most impactful by colleges are typically those that relate to your intended major or career field. As a general rule, colleges appreciate students who challenge themselves within their area of interest.

For example, if you plan to pursue engineering, you might want to consider AP Physics C and AP Calculus BC. For someone interested in a humanities field, like English or History, AP English Literature and Composition and AP US History could be good choices.

Certain AP classes are considered more challenging and tend to stand out more. AP Calculus BC, AP Physics C, AP Chemistry, and AP Biology are often seen as some of the toughest, and therefore most impressive, AP classes. On the other hand, if your desired college offers courses in microeconomics or macroeconomics, and you take the corresponding AP classes, that can also be impressive.

However, don't just select the most difficult AP classes for the sake of seeming impressive. You should select AP classes that match your interests and where you can expect to perform well. It's important to balance challenge with your ability to successfully manage the workload of these rigorous classes. If you spread yourself too thin with too many challenging classes, your grades could suffer, which wouldn't be beneficial for your college applications. It's all about finding a balance that works for you.
