Oregon College Cities - Which are the Most Livable?

Hey everyone! I'm considering applying to a few colleges in Oregon and was wondering, which college cities there provide the best overall living experience? By that, I mean affordable rent, access to fun activities, easy commute, and that sort of thing. Any Oregonians around to chime in?

Absolutely, here are some of the popular college towns in Oregon, each with their own unique attributes:

1. Eugene: Home to the University of Oregon. It's a small city vibe with a lot of outdoor activities owing to its proximity to both ocean beaches and mountains. The public transportation is robust, especially around the campus. It's known for its vibrant arts scene and hosts various music and arts festivals throughout the year.

2. Corvallis: This is where Oregon State University is located. It's a smaller city, but still offers a range of dining and entertainment options, including a farmers market. Its commute times are shorter than average given its size. Nature lovers will be pleased with the number of parks and trails.

3. Portland: Although it's not a traditional college town, it's home to several colleges like Portland State University, Reed College, Lewis & Clark College, and more. It has a vibrant, eclectic city culture packed with a variety of restaurants, theaters, music venues, and professional sports. However, living costs, particularly rent, can be higher than the other towns on this list. But in return, you get extended opportunities for internships and jobs in various industries.

4. Ashland: Where you'd find Southern Oregon University. It's known for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and its downtown area offers a lot to do, from boutiques to restaurants. It's relatively smaller, so housing can be more affordable than larger cities, but still higher compared to Corvallis and Eugene.

Each town has its own flavor and things to offer so it ultimately depends on your personal preferences. Make sure to research each one fully before making a decision!
