Most applied-to colleges from West Virginia?

This might be pretty specific, but I was wondering if there's any info out there about the most popular colleges for high school applicants from West Virginia. Like, which colleges get the most applications from students in my state. Any insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

It's not uncommon for students to be curious about where others from their state are applying! However, exact data on this can be a little tricky to find as it isn't always publicly available. Generally, students from all locales tend to apply close to home. Therefore, it's probable that West Virginia University, Marshall University, and Fairmont State University receive a significant portion of applications from West Virginia high schoolers.

However, it's also important to consider that regional or neighboring universities in areas like Pennsylvania, Virginia, Kentucky, or Ohio are likely to also receive a good number of applications from West Virginia. Universities such as University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania State University, University of Virginia, or University of Kentucky come to mind.

Lastly, a contingent of high-achieving students always sets sights on nationally recognized, selective schools throughout the country, so Ivy League universities, Stanford, Duke, MIT, University of Chicago etc., might also experience a fair share of applications from West Virginia high school students.

Remember, while it's interesting to know about trends, the “most applied to” schools may not necessarily be the best choice for you personally. Everyone has unique interests, goals, and requirements, and the right college for you depends on factors unique to your circumstances. So, while trends can be informative, make sure you prioritize your individual needs in your college search!
