Which charities are popular among college students?

I've always had a soft spot for volunteering and helping out where I can. As I look toward college, I'd love to continue this, maybe through some charitable foundations. Does anyone have any experience or know of any popular charities that are well-regarded or popular among college students?

Absolutely, many students continue their charitable work in college and there are a range of organizations that specifically support this. Here are a few popular charities among college students:

1. Pencils of Promise: This organization builds schools and provides educational opportunities in the developing world. Many college students get involved by starting their own campus chapters or fundraising campaigns.

2. Doctors Without Borders: A favorite among pre-med students and those interested in global health. In addition to donations, they offer opportunities to advocate for global health issues.

3. The Trevor Project: This organization provides crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQ) young people. Many college campuses have active Trevor Project groups or volunteer opportunities.

4. Habitat for Humanity: This organization aims to provide affordable housing to those in need, and they have campus chapters across the country where students can get involved in local builds and advocacy work.

5. UNICEF: A favorite among many college students - particularly those interested in children's rights and global affairs. Campus chapters work on advocacy and fundraising for child-focused humanitarian aid.

6. Relay for Life: Organized by the American Cancer Society, this event is a community-level fundraising campaign to fight cancer. Many colleges and universities host their own Relay for Life events.

Remember that the best charity to get involved with is one that aligns with your passions and interests. So, explore these options and see if any resonate with you. You also have the option to start your own chapter of a charity that doesn't currently have a presence on your future campus. Good luck!
