Most important supplies for college students?

Hey guys, moving on to college soon and I'm getting a bit flustered about what to buy. What are some must-have supplies for a college freshman?

There are a few categories of items that you'll need as a college freshman.

Academic supplies: To start off, you'll want basic school supplies just like you would for high school. Think notebooks, pens, pencils, highlighters, and Post-Its. A laptop is also a necessity for most college students. Depending on your major, there may be additional equipment or software that you need too. Geography or city planning students might need tracing paper or a lightbox, while computer science students might need to purchase development software.

Dorm supplies: Dorm living requires a few special items, like bed linens (usually Twin XL for college dorms), a fan if your dorm isn't air-conditioned, a shower caddy to carry your toiletries to and from the bathroom, and a laundry hamper. This list also includes things like clothes hangers, desk lamps, and organization items. Check to see what your college provides in dorm rooms, as this can vary.

Cooking and food storage: Depending on your meal plan and dorm setup, you might also need a mini-fridge, microwave, or coffeemaker. Double-check the rules of your dorm, though - some do not allow all appliances.

Health and wellness supplies: This list isn't just limited to toiletries. It also includes items like a basic first-aid kit, prescription medications if applicable, vitamins, over-the-counter medications for common ailments (think colds, headaches, and stomach issues), and any sports or exercise gear you regularly use.

I'm sure other community members might have more advice, but this should give you a good starting point. Above all else, remember to pack items that make you feel comfortable and at home in your new space – photos of family and friends, a favorite blanket or pillow, that kind of thing. Good luck with your move!
