Small Colleges With Unique Programs?

I'm starting to narrow down my college list and I'm really interested in small colleges that offer unique or offbeat programs. Can anyone suggest some interesting small colleges in the US?

Certainly! There are several small colleges in the US that offer noteworthy and unique programs.

1. College of the Atlantic, located in Maine, offers a rare undergraduate degree known as Human Ecology. This offers an interdisciplinary approach that permits students to tailor their education across a multitude of fields including environmental science, art, philosophy, and anthropology.

2. Berea College in Kentucky could also pique your interest for its Labor Program, mandatory for all students. The program fuses work, learning, and service by having students help with the college's daily operations, in return for free tuition.

3. Another unique institution is St. John's College in Maryland and New Mexico. They follow a distinctive curriculum rooted in the "Great Books" program. In lieu of traditional majors, all students explore philosophy, literature, mathematics, music, language, science, and fine arts through discussions and readings of original works by influential thinkers.

4. Deep Springs College in California offers a unique two-year education program with a focus on academics, labor, and self-governance. Students perform labor tasks as part of the curriculum and participate in decision-making processes on campus.

5. Hampshire College in Massachusetts provides a non-traditional system where students develop their own interdisciplinary program of study. Instead of letter grades, students receive narrative evaluations for their work.

6. Olin College of Engineering in Massachusetts operates a curriculum that emphasizes hands-on learning, projects, and interdisciplinary courses.

These are just a few examples of small colleges with unique programs. I recommend doing further research into each to determine whether they align with your interests and academic goals. Be sure to also check out their acceptance rates and other admission requirements.
