What is the most widely read book in colleges these days?

I'm trying to keep up with what students are reading the most in college. Does anyone know what the current most-read book in colleges is and why it's so popular?

Based on multiple syllabi from various universities, one of the most widely read books by college students is "The Elements of Style" by William Strunk Jr. and E.B. White. This book focuses on rules of usage in English, principles of composition, and common issues in style.

The popularity of this book probably stems from its relevance across a wide variety of disciplines. No matter what major or minor a student is pursuing, strong writing skills are essential. This means that the book applies to a wide range of courses from History to Philosophy to English, and even outside of humanities centric fields, like in the sciences.

However, it's also worth noting that, while "The Elements of Style" may be frequently assigned or recommended, the "most-read" book in college can vary greatly depending on course requirements, student interests, or majors. This might include classics like "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee, "1984" by George Orwell, or contemporary works like "Between the World and Me" by Ta-Nehisi Coates.

While these titles come up often in college syllabi, it's also common to see academic texts, biographies, and books related to personal development being assigned. It's truly a broad mix of genres!
