How are the college towns in Georgia?

Hey there, I'm thinking about applying to colleges in Georgia because I love the Southern atmosphere. Any thoughts on the fun aspects of their college towns? Clubs, activities, festivals, etc?

Absolutely, Georgia has a unique Southern charm which translates beautifully into the ambiance of its college towns. There are a few distinctively diverse college towns, each with its own unique aspects and characteristics.

Starting with Athens, home to the University of Georgia, it's known for its vibrant music scene and cultural festivals. It's often referred to as the "Live Music Capital of the World." Numerous bands got their start here, and there are always music events happening around town, like the annual AthFest. There are also a variety of clubs for all kinds of interests, cafe-lined streets for casual hangouts, and a thriving art scene, ensuring there's never a dull moment in Athens.

Savannah, home to Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), is a city steeped in history and known for its arts and culture. The city is architecturally stunning; you can walk down almost any street and be greeted with beautiful old buildings and public squares. With SCAD being an art-centric institution, you'll also find some cool public art displays. The city hosts a number of festivals throughout the year, including the famous Savannah Film Festival and the Savannah Music Festival.

In Atlanta, you have the bustling city lifestyle paired with a myriad of educational institutions, including Georgia State University (GSU) and the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech). Atlanta is home to several professional sports teams, scores of entertainment and dining venues, an impressive arts scene, and numerous cultural attractions like The World of Coca Cola, the Georgia Aquarium, and the protected natural beauty within the city parks.

Each of these towns offer a distinctive Southern atmosphere combined with its unique characteristics. Whether you're a fan of music, love art, are a foodie, or just enjoy a vibrant street-life scene, these college towns in Georgia won't disappoint.
