How does the size of an HBCU impact student life and opportunities?

Hey folks, I'm currently a junior and starting to look more seriously at colleges, particularly HBCUs. I'm wondering about the differences in opportunities, vibe, and overall campus life between small and large HBCUs. Can anyone shed some light on how the size of an HBCU might affect my college experience?

Happy to share some insights! Small HBCUs tend to offer a more tight-knit community where everyone knows each other, and where it's easier to stand out in leadership positions or receive personalized attention from faculty.

However, larger HBCUs might offer a wider range of courses, more active campus life with diverse student organizations, and greater networking opportunities due to a larger alumni base. Neither is better or worse than the other, but they do provide different benefits, so you want to be thoughtful about which environment is more likely to help you achieve your goals in college.

So, ask yourself honestly: do you prefer the coziness of a smaller setting or the bustling energy of a large campus? Either way, HBCUs are known for their strong sense of community and heritage, so you'll find a supportive environment at the core of these institutions no matter the size!

Good luck with your college search!
