What are the most preppy colleges in the South?

I'm actually quite drawn to the Southern charm of colleges in the South, but I've also heard that some of them have quite a distinct 'preppy' culture. Could anyone highlight some of these preppy southern colleges, please?

Certainly, many colleges in the South do have a reputation for being 'preppy'. Here are a few notable ones you might want to consider:

1. University of Virginia (UVA): Located in Charlottesville, Virginia, UVA is known for its historic campus and strong traditions. The university's secret societies, Greek scene, and polo-wearing students contribute to a relatively preppy vibe.

2. Vanderbilt University: Vanderbilt is located in Nashville, Tennessee, and often described as having a somewhat preppy, social atmosphere. Many students are involved in Greek life and the university boasts a beautiful, tree-filled campus.

3. Washington and Lee University: This small liberal arts university in Lexington, Virginia, is known for its Honor Code and Southern Gentleman/Lady tradition. While definitely having a preppy and conservative vibe, the university also has a diverse range of extracurricular activities that allow students to find their own niche.

4. Wake Forest University: Located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Wake Forest has a strong Greek life and a reputation for being socially conservative and preppy. The tobacco-rich history of the area also contributes to a traditional Southern feeling on campus.

5. University of the South (Sewanee): Nestled on a beautiful mountain top in Tennessee, Sewanee is known both for its stunning natural surroundings and a preppy and outdoorsy student body.

Just remember, while these schools have a reputation for a preppy atmosphere, they also offer a diverse range of activities, clubs, and courses that cater to a variety of interests. The vibe on campus can also change from year to year depending on the interests and initiatives of the students. So it's crucial to visit these colleges, if possible, to get a firsthand sense of the environment.
