Most wheelchair accessible colleges?

Hey everyone, I'm in a wheelchair and starting to look at colleges. An accessible campus is obviously super important to me. If any of you know colleges that are known for being particularly wheelchair friendly, could you let me know? Thanks!

Sure, I can suggest a few. Although most colleges are required to be accessible under the Americans with Disabilities Act, some colleges go above and beyond to make their campuses more wheelchair-friendly.

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign is known for its accessibility. They have a Disability Resources and Educational Services (DRES) department, and they were the first university to create a wheelchair sports program. The campus is largely flat, making navigation straightforward.

Another option is Edinboro University in Pennsylvania, which has an Office for Students with Disabilities. They provide a variety of services and have a number of buildings with wheelchair access.

Additionally, University of California, Berkeley has a long history of disability-rights activism, and has been a leader in making their campus accessible. Their Disabled Students' Program is committed to ensuring that all students can participate fully in campus life.

Lastly, the University of Arizona is another school with solid access and services. They have disabilities resources in place and a good level of accessibility throughout the campus.

However, I would highly recommend visiting these campuses, if possible, to personally gauge the accessibility. Additionally, reach out to the relevant departments or services at the schools you're considering, so they can provide specific information about their accessibility features. Remember, each person’s needs are unique and what might work best for one person might not necessarily work for another.
