Unconventional Liberal Arts Colleges

I've heard about many Liberal Arts Colleges, but I'm really intrigued by the unique, lesser-known, or unconventional ones. Does anyone have any schools to recommend?

Absolutely! Some lesser-known or unconventional liberal arts colleges certainly exist, each with its own distinctive approach to education.

1. Antioch College: Located in Ohio, this fascinating college is known for embracing a work-study model. Students alternate between studying and internships, not only in the United States but around the world, giving you real-world experience along with theoretical learning.

2. Bard College: Bard's Language & Thinking Program and the Citizen Science Program used in freshman orientation sets it apart. Moreover, Bard also has an Early College initiative, which lets high school students take college-level courses, showcasing their commitment to innovative education.

3. Colorado College: The school employs a "Block Plan" where students take one course at a time for 3.5 weeks. This allows students to fully immerse themselves in one subject and take field trips or perform detailed projects that might not be possible with a traditional schedule.

4. Deep Springs College: A two-year college where students receive a full scholarship covering tuition, room, and board. It is located in a remote part of California, and the student body is limited to around 25-30 students. Besides academic work, students run the college's cattle ranch and alfalfa farm.

5. Bennington College: In Vermont, Bennington stands out for its "Plan Process," which encourages students to map out their study path and regularly rethink and revise their academic goals with faculty.

Remember, while these schools are less traditional, they're still academically rigorous and hold their students to high standards. If an unconventional style of learning appeals to you, definitely consider these institutions!
