Most common colleges attended by US presidents?

Hi there! I'm a bit of a history nerd and also in the process of figuring out where to go to college. I'm kind of interested in knowing: what are some of the most common colleges attended by US presidents? And why do you think they chose those schools?

Sure, I'd be happy to share that information with you! Harvard University is the most common college attended by U.S. Presidents, with eight presidents having attended there. The second most common is Yale University with five presidents having attended. And the College of William & Mary is third with three presidents having attended.

The presidents who attended Harvard are John Adams, John Quincy Adams, Theodore Roosevelt, Franklin D. Roosevelt, Rutherford B. Hayes, John F. Kennedy, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama. Interestingly, George W. Bush also attended Yale University, along with his father George H.W. Bush, William Howard Taft, and Gerald Ford. And the presidents from College of William & Mary are Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe, and John Tyler.

One possible reason for this is the age of these institutions - Harvard, Yale, and William & Mary are three of the oldest universities in the U.S., with a wealth of history that's intertwined with America's own. So attending these prestigious institutions might provide a solid academic foundation, as well as strong networking connections, both of which could be beneficial for a future career in politics.

However, it's important to remember that success in public life isn't strictly tied to where you go to college. In fact, several U.S. Presidents such as Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Johnson, and Harry Truman, didn't attend college at all. Each person has their own unique path to leadership, and pursuing your own interests and strengths is more important than following someone else's path.
