Most favored field of study among college students?

I'm finding it a bit tricky to decide on a major. What's the most popular field of study for college students these days? I'm just trying to gather some information to make an informed choice. Thanks!

Data from the National Center for Education Statistics indicates that business remains one of the most popular areas of study among undergraduates, followed closely by fields like health professions and related programs, and social sciences and history.

However, I'd caution you not to choose a major based solely on its popularity. While trends can provide an interesting broad view of the current market, they should not be the sole determinants in your decision-making process.

It's more beneficial to select a major based on your interests, skills, and long-term career goals. If you're passionate about what you're studying, you're more likely likely to excel in your coursework, get involved in related extracurricular activities, and find fulfilment in your field.

In addition, the labor market is constantly evolving. What's in demand today might be different tomorrow. Therefore, flexible skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication, which can be acquired through various areas of study, are often more valuable in the long-term.

Consider exploring a few areas of interest if you're not sure yet. Some schools allow you to take general education requirements and electives in your first year or two, which can expose you to various fields and help you make a more informed decision. You could also consider speaking to a college advisor or current students in different majors to gain more insights.
