Stunning College Buildings

Hey everyone, I'm a bit of an architecture nerd and am interested in applying to colleges with not only great academics but also beautiful campuses. So, in your opinion, what are some of the most wonderful college buildings in the United States?

Oh, that's an interesting criteria to consider when applying for colleges! While everyone may have different tastes as to what comprises a "beautiful" building, there are several campuses known for their unique architecture or gorgeous settings.

There is Princeton University's campus, which is essentially an art and architecture museum. In particular, the University Chapel and Nassau Hall are magnificent.

Over at Yale University, the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library is a must-see. It’s essentially a glass-encased cube of books with white panels letting in soft, filtered light to protect the rare collections.

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) is well-renowned not only for its technical prowess but also for its interesting architecture. The Stata Center, designed by Frank Gehry is a true standout, with an unconventional design that's both functional and visually compelling.

University of Virginia's campus, designed in part by Thomas Jefferson, is beautiful and historically significant. The Rotunda and the Lawn are highlights there.

Stanford University possesses a distinct Californian appeal with its Mission Revival Style architecture, specifically present in structures like Hoover Tower and Stanford Memorial Church.

And finally, the entire University of Chicago campus, in my opinion, is like walking through an architectural wonderland. The Hitchcock Hall, with its Gothic Revival style, is definitely a standout.

Remember, beautiful buildings can make a campus visit more enjoyable, but the academic fit and community should be your primary focus. Happy college hunting!
