Selective colleges in Wisconsin: which are the toughest to get into?

Hello, so I live in Wisconsin and I'd like to stay close to home for college. But at the same time, I really want to challenge myself and apply to the most selective colleges here. Does anyone know which colleges in Wisconsin are particularly known for their selective admissions?

Certainly! There are a few colleges in Wisconsin that are known for their selective admissions.

1. The University of Wisconsin–Madison (UW–Madison): This is the flagship university in the state and well renowned nationally, with strict admissions standards.

2. Marquette University: A private institution, Marquette sets high academic standards and is typically considered to be selective.

3. Lawrence University: This is a private liberal arts college and is known for its academic rigor and fairly selective admissions.

4. Beloit College: Another private liberal arts college, Beloit has smaller undergraduate enrollment, so admissions can be fairly competitive.

5. St. Norbert College: This is a small, Roman Catholic liberal arts college, which is also fairly selective.

Remember, however, that selective does not just mean "harder to get into." These institutions set high standards because they offer rigorous academic programs and seek students who will thrive in that environment. As a result, their admissions criteria typically look at more than just GPA and test scores. They'll want to see strong extracurricular involvement, excellent letters of recommendation, and thoughtful application essays that demonstrate your readiness for challenging coursework and your fit for the specific institution.
