Most selective community college?

Hi all. Due to personal reasons, I'm exploring community colleges as a cheaper and more flexible option for me post high-school. However, I still want to challenge myself so I'm trying to find some of the most selective community colleges around. Any ideas?

Hello there! There are indeed community colleges that have a more selective admissions process, albeit they might not be as competitive as their four-year counterparts. Santa Barbara City College in California is widely regarded as one of the top community colleges in the nation. It is noted for its rigorous academic programs, diversity, and its successful transfer rates to four-year universities.

Deep Springs College in California is another highly selective two-year institution, but it's incredibly unique. Its student body is tiny (about 12–15 students per class), which is perhaps a testament to its selectivity. Students attend for free in return for labor on the college's cattle ranch and alfalfa farm. After completing the two-year program, most students transfer to four-year institutions.

Meanwhile, St. Paul College in Minnesota is renowned for its student-friendly environment and high-quality technical and career programs, which are regularly updated to meet the changing needs of the business and industry sectors.

These are just few among many community colleges in the US known for their rigor and selectivity. Depending on your academic interests and geographical preferences, you might want to look at other options as well. Keep in mind that unlike four-year universities, admission criteria for community colleges often focus less on GPA and test scores, and more on your potential to benefit from and contribute to the college community.
