Schools with Strong International Student Aid?

Hey folks, I'm an international student and figuring out how to pay for college is a real doozy. I've been trying to find colleges in the US that offer substantial financial aid for international students. Do y'all know any colleges that are known for that?

It sounds like you're looking for colleges that offer a significant amount of aid to international students, which is a great proactive step! Here are a few where international students have historically received substantial support:

1. Harvard University has a need-blind admissions policy, meaning they do not consider a student's financial situation during the admission process. They also make sure international students can afford Harvard by offering financial aid packages that do not include loans—this means your aid package will be comprised of grants, possible work-study, and any expected family contribution but no loans.

2. Yale University handles international students the same way, with need-blind admissions and a commitment to meeting 100% of demonstrated financial need with no loans.

3. Princeton University is need-blind for all applicants, including international, and provides financial aid in the form of grants, which don't have to be repaid.

4. MIT is another need-blind university that meets full need for all admitted students, including international students.

5. Amherst College extends need-blind admissions and meets 100% demonstrated need for all admitted students too, including international students.

6. Dartmouth College provides need-based financial aid awards to a limited number of international students each year. They have traditionally offered need-blind admissions for students from Canada and Mexico. Beginning in with the Class of 2026, however, Dartmouth has expanded its longstanding need-blind admissions policy to include all international citizens.

Remember, each school will have a different process for applying for financial aid and may require different documents. Always check each school's financial aid website for the most accurate and up-to-date information. And don't hesitate to reach out to the financial aid offices with any questions! They are there to help.
