Becoming a Polyglot in College?

Hi all, I'm really into languages and I'm hoping to learn as many as I can in college. So, I've been wondering, which US colleges offer the most languages to learn?

Certainly, there are numerous U.S. universities known for their broad selection of language courses. If you're particularly interested in studying a variety of languages, there are several institutions you might want to consider:

1. University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA): UCLA offers over 40 languages, with particularly robust programs in Persian, Filipino, and Korean.

2. University of Texas at Austin: UT Austin also offers a significant array of language courses, boasting over 35 languages. Their Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures Department is notably expansive, offering languages like Farsi, Turkish, and Hebrew.

3. Columbia University: If you're truly ambitious, Columbia offers nearly 50 different languages. They really shine in East Asian languages, like Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.

4. Indiana University Bloomington: Famous for its language programs, IU Bloomington has over 80 languages available for study, including lesser-taught Languages such as Estonian, Swahili, and Tibetan.

5. University of Wisconsin–Madison: UW–Madison has one of the widest arrays of language offerings—around 50 languages, including some uncommon ones like Hmong, Wolof, and Quechua.

Remember, while having a wide variety of languages is a plus, it's also essential to consider the strength and resources of the language departments that interest you. This includes the language's faculty, the department's student-to-teacher ratio, language-specific research opportunities, and study abroad programs related to those languages.
