What are some of the most Interesting and Worthwhile Majors?

Hi fellow students, I'm currently a junior looking at potential majors. Rather than just going for the most 'lucrative' or 'popular' fields, I'm more driven by interest and passion. So, could you guys recommend some of the most interesting and worthwhile majors you've come across? Also, if you could explain why you think it's worthwhile, that would be awesome!

Hi there! I get where you're coming from and I think it's fantastic your focus is on pursuing your passions and interests. Here are some noteworthy majors that you might find interesting based on their unique perspectives and potential rewards:

1. Astrophysics: It's an incredible field if you're interested in space, stars, and the universe. It has exciting research opportunities, plus the skills you gain—mathematics, problem-solving, and programming—can be employed in various promising careers like technology, finance, aerospace, academia, etc.

2. Cognitive Science: This interdisciplinary major combines psychology, computer science, philosophy, and linguistics to study the human mind and intelligence. Given that AI & machine learning professions are booming, cognitive science could also be a fulfilling route into these areas if you're interested in human-like computation.

3. Environmental Science: A very timely major addressing pressing issues like climate change, conservation, natural resource management, and sustainability. By studying this, you can contribute to greater causes like the environment and sustainability.

4. Anthropology: If you're interested in different cultures, human development, or social structures, Anthropology could be for you. It gives a unique perspective on human behavior which can be valuable in professions like social work, community development, and human resources, among others.

5. Public Health: Aimed at improving health and well-being on a broader scale, it's ideal for anyone passionate about helping communities and making a positive societal impact. It could lead to careers in policy, epidemiology, community health work, and more.

Remember, the value of a major isn't solely dependent on its financial resell value. The best major for you will be shaped by your interests and long-term goals. It may be helpful to think about what classes you have enjoyed previously, where your natural talents lie, and where you see your future. Don't forget to explore available minors, as well! Good luck on your journey!
