When Do Most People Finish College?

Hey everyone! I've been contemplating the length of time it takes to complete college. At what age, typically, do most people finish their college education?

Great question! The typical college experience for a Bachelor's degree, which is what most people refer to when discussing "college", is designed to be four years. Given that most students start college right after high school around age 18, it usually means that many students finish around the age of 22.

However, this scenario isn't universal. Some students might take a gap year before starting college, thus making them older when they finish. Also, there are students who may take longer than four years to complete their degree, perhaps due to part-time attendance, changing majors, or various personal circumstances.

Furthermore, many community college students who complete an associate's degree before transferring to a four-year school might finish their Bachelor's degree later as well.

Overall, there's wide variance, but 22 is likely the most common completion age for those following a traditional four-year college timeline right out of high school.
