When Do Most People Start College?

Going through the college application process and I'm wondering - when do most people typically start college? Is it right after high school or do most people take some time off first?

Most students typically start college in the fall semester following their high school graduation. This means if you graduate from high school in May or June, you would start college in August or September of that same year, depending on the specific start date of your college. This is the traditional path and what a majority of students opt for.

However, it's becoming more common for students to take a gap year between high school and college. This decision is highly personal and can provide opportunities for students to travel, work, intern, or explore other interests before starting their higher education journey. Some colleges even encourage or facilitate this through organized gap year programs.

Nonetheless, the key is to choose the path that best suits your personal circumstances, career goals, and readiness for the transition to college life. Remember, everyone's journey is different, and what's crucial is that you are moving at a pace comfortable and suitable for you.
