Most Hated College Football Programs?

Not to stir up anything, but I've heard some colleges have football programs that can really split the crowd. Just wondering, which college football programs tend to face the most dislike and why? Do successful programs naturally build rivalries and haters?

While discussions about the popularity of college football teams can be highly subjective and fluctuate over time, there are some teams that always seem to come up. Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and USC, to name a few, are frequently mentioned when discussing disliked programs. These teams have often had great success in the past, which contributes to their image as rivals to many.

The Alabama Crimson Tide, for instance, have dominated college football for over a decade under Coach Nick Saban. This level of continuous success can sometimes breed resentment among fans of other teams. Fans who are not loyal to Alabama can often feel that their dominance makes the sport less interesting.

Similarly, Notre Dame faces a fair bit of disdain because of their independent status, which allows them to negotiate their own television deal rather than being required to share TV revenue with a conference. Ohio State is often cited due to its numerous rivalries and generally competitive performance in the Big Ten. USC, with its Hollywood connections and controversial history, also tends to draw some negative attention.

However, it's important to remember that sports opinions, particularly in college football, can vary greatly based on regional ties, rivalries, and personal experiences. You will find fans, as well as detractors, of each of these programs, and the level of affection or dislike can vary significantly based on the individual or the region. While rivalries and "haters" often come with success, they are also a testament to the impassioned world of college football and its fans. No matter the program, there will always be opposition. Ultimately, what matters most is fostering a spirit of competitive camaraderie and sportsmanship.
