Common college supplies?

Hi guys! I'm trying to prepare a list of essential supplies needed for the college. What are the most commonly used items for everyday college life, both academic and dorm-living ones? Also, any surprisingly useful things that people don't usually think of?

Certainly! For academics, a sturdy backpack or bag is a must. A laptop or tablet for note-taking and research is also quite useful. Personally, I'd also suggest having a few physical notebooks and pens, as sometimes, writing things down can aid memory retention.

Let's not forget about textbooks. If your college doesn't have a rental program, try to find used textbooks online or consider e-books. A scientific calculator might come in handy as well, depending on your major.

Organizational tools can greatly enhance your daily routine. A planner or digital app for tracking due dates and assignments will keep you on top of your workload. A set of highlighters could be quite useful for textbooks and note-taking. Also, consider post-its and index cards for quick reminders or flashcards.

Now, onto dorm living. You'll definitely need bedding (twin XL for most colleges), hangers, laundry supplies, and toiletries. I'd also advise on a shower caddy and flip-flops for public shower areas.

A good desk lamp is important, especially if you plan on late-night studying. Consider a power strip for charging various devices, but make sure it's allowed by your school's housing regulations.

A mini-fridge and a microwave are commonly used, don't forget about some reusable dining ware. However, try to check with your future roommate first, you might be able to split these costs.

Surprisingly useful items can include a water filter pitcher or a reusable water bottle. This will save you plenty of trips to the grocery store for bottled water. Also, a small tool set can be a real lifesaver for minor repairs or even assembling furniture.
