Are there unique community colleges out there?

I'm considering going the community college route before transferring to a 4-year school. I'd love to find one that has a unique flare to it. Any suggestions?

Absolutely, there are many unique community colleges out there that offer a variety of specialized courses, unique campus environments, and robust student life experiences. One such school is Santa Fe Community College in New Mexico, known for its commitment to a sustainable lifestyle. They have a unique degree program in Biofuels and Green Building Construction Skills, and their campus consists of cutting-edge, energy-efficient buildings. Another unique community college is Miami Dade College in Florida. It hosts the Miami International Film Festival every year, offering opportunities for film students to network and showcase their work.

You can also consider Guttman Community College in New York. It offers a unique first-year curriculum, called the "City Seminar," which uses New York City as a classroom and focuses on real-world problem-solving. Or you might check out Deep Springs College in California, although technically a two-year liberal arts college, it's highly unique due to its "Labor" program. All students are required to work on the college's ranch or farm a certain number of hours a week, learning practical skills alongside their academic study.

Remember, the best community college for you will depend on what you're looking for from your college experience. It's important to research different institutions to see what they offer that aligns with your interests and goals. This could be anything from the college's size, location, campus life, courses on offer, to community engagement opportunities. Good luck with your search!
