What degree helps the most with flight training?

Hello all, an aviation career has always been my dream. I just wanted to know, what college degree would give me the most advantage during flight training? Any pilots or future pilots out there who can give me some guidance?

Sure, I can provide some guidance on this. When considering a college degree that would complement flight training well, you might want to look into Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics. These subjects will provide you with a deep understanding of how an aircraft operates, the physics behind flight, and complex calculations that could come in handy.

However, it's important to note that for many airlines, the specific subject of your degree might not be as important as having a degree itself. Many airlines require a bachelor's degree for employment but do not specify the field of study. Therefore, you might also consider studying a subject you enjoy and excel in.

An Aviation Science degree could also be a great option. Some universities offer a Bachelor of Science in Aviation, which would provide a specific, targeted background in aviation. This often includes both theoretical coursework and practical flight training.

Additionally, some universities even offer a comprehensive flight training program, which might allow you to acquire your pilot's license while completing your degree.

All this said, while choosing the right degree can provide a solid foundation of knowledge, much of your flight training will likely take place outside of college through a flight training program where you'd earn your various pilot's licenses. Remember to balance pursuing your academic interests and career aims.

To prep for flight training, I would also recommend looking into joining a club or organization on campus that engages in aviation activities, as it could provide some hands-on experience.

But don't forget to check with the aviation authorities or airlines in your country or in the region where you wish to work, as specific requirements may vary.
