Which US College Has Produced the Most Nobel Laureates?

Hey guys, I was just wondering, do any of you know which university in the US has had the greatest number of its alumni or faculty win the Nobel Prize? I'm especially interested in STEM-related fields, but info on other fields would be appreciated as well. Thanks!

The University of California, Berkeley has a robust tally of Nobel laureates to its name. As of now, it boasts 30 Nobel laureates among its faculty and 12 among its alumni. These laureates span a variety of disciplines, from Physics and Chemistry to Economics.

However, the institution with the most Nobel laureates, inclusive of staff and alumni, is Harvard University. Harvard's alumni, alone, account for 30+ Nobel laureates, and there are 50+ laureates among the university's faculty. This sprawling number is indeed an exemplar of Harvard's esteemed position in the global academic realm.

Though these laureates span various disciplines, many have won in STEM fields. For instance, at UC Berkeley, laureates like Ernest Lawrence (Physics, 1939), Yuan T. Lee (Chemistry, 1986), and Saul Perlmutter (Physics, 2011) have made significant contributions to their respective fields. Similarly, Harvard's roster includes laureates like Martin Karplus (Chemistry, 2013), David Politzer (Physics, 2004), and Richard J. Roberts (Physiology/Medicine, 1993), who have significantly contributed to the realm of Science.

Despite these statistics, remember that the output of Nobel laureates may not necessarily be a perfect measure of a university's overall strength in STEM disciplines or other areas. Various factors, including the individual’s effort, the supportive research milieu, and mentorship come into play. It's crucial to look at multiple aspects of an institution, from course content, faculty, research opportunities, and campus culture, to figure out if it might be the right fit for you.
