Recommendations for basic economics textbooks for high school?

Hello. I'm a junior in high school and am planning on taking economics. Can anybody suggest the most basic economics textbooks that are commonly used in high schools across the country? Any help or guide would be greatly appreciated.

Sure, I'd be glad to recommend some economics textbooks that are often used in high school classrooms.

1. "Economics: Principles in Action" by Arthur O’Sullivan and Steven M. Sheffrin: This is a comprehensive textbook that covers both micro and macroeconomics and is often used in AP Economics courses. It's known for its clear explanations and real-world examples that make the subject more accessible.

2. "Barron's AP Microeconomics/Macroeconomics" by Frank Musgrave and Elia Kacapyr: Often used as a preparatory book for AP Economics exams, Barron's guide is the go-to for many students. It provides clear explanations and a thorough overview of key economic principles.

3. "Principles of Economics" by N. Gregory Mankiw: Mankiw's book is popular in college-level economics courses but can also be utilized by high school students who are looking for a deep understanding of economics principles. It covers both microeconomics and macroeconomics, and it's known for its real-world policy emphasis.

4. "The Cartoon Introduction to Economics", Volumes 1 & 2, by Yoram Bauman and Grady Klein: The "Cartoon Introduction" books are a lighter read, and explain Economic principles in simple, clear language, backed up with illustrations and diagrams to aid understanding. Volume 1 covers Microeconomics, and Volume 2 covers Macroeconomics.

Remember, each textbook has its strengths and weaknesses and different teachers will prefer different books. Discuss with your teacher if you have a choice to use a particular textbook. They might have specific one they'd prefer you to use, or might be able to suggest additional resources based on the curriculum of your class.
