Inclusive Rankings? The 'Top 15 Most Beautiful Colleges' Around the Globe

I'm not geographically bound in my college search and have been looking globally. While I've found plenty of rankings for the 'top 15 most beautiful colleges' in the US, it's been harder to find a comprehensive international list. Are there any sources that rank the 'top 15 most beautiful colleges' worldwide? And if so, what methodology is used to determine these rankings? Is it purely aesthetic, or do factors like campus culture and community play into it?

The 'most beautiful college campus' rankings you're referring to are generally informal and can be found in various blogs, magazines, and travel publications. The criteria used usually involve the architecture, scenic value, and the general aesthetic appeal of the campus. However, keep in mind that beauty is subjective and what one person finds beautiful, another person might not, so these rankings are not definitive.

The methodology often includes factors such as design coherence (how well the buildings and landscapes fit together), setting and location (whether it's urban or rural, whether there's water or a mountain view, etc.), architectural significance (unique or historical buildings), green spaces (parks, gardens, trees), sustainability and eco-friendliness, and accessibility.

As for worldwide rankings, there’s no formal resource that lists the 'top 15 most beautiful colleges' globally. However, you might be able to piece together some international candidates from various "most beautiful" lists, some of which focus on specific countries or regions. For example, a list of the most beautiful campuses in the UK might include the University of Cambridge or University of Oxford. Even within these campus rankings, you'd find individual standouts, such as Alice's Room at Oxford or the King's College Chapel at Cambridge.

Other international universities known for their beauty include the University of Cape Town in South Africa, which is nestled at the base of the stunning Table Mountain, the University of Bologna in Italy, known for its historic and beautiful buildings, and the University of Sydney in Australia, famous for its neo-gothic sandstone structures.

Finally, in terms of campus culture and community, those aren't typically factors in 'beautiful campuses' lists, which focus more on aesthetics and location. However, a welcoming community and vibrant culture certainly add to the overall appeal of a campus and thus play a critical role in student life - something that I urge you to remember during your college search.
