What's the typical student population at really big colleges?

Hey guys, I've been thinking a lot about size and vibe of campus lately. I'm considering some pretty large schools but I don't know exactly how many students usually attend those. So, what's the usual student size at the really huge colleges? Are we talking tens of thousands or even more?

Yes, you're right on track! The student population at larger universities can indeed number in the tens of thousands. When we say big colleges, typically these are public institutions, and many house over 20,000 students; some even have over 50,000 undergraduate students.

For example, you have institutions like University of Central Florida having about 69,000 undergraduate students, and Texas A&M University with over 54,000 undergraduates. In the Big Ten, the University of Minnesota Twin Cities has around 30,000 undergrads while Ohio State University hosts over 52,000.

But remember, these are just undergraduate figures. If you factor in graduate students, the total student population can swell even more.

Keep in mind though, the size of the student population can greatly influence the school's vibe, like class size, campus facilities, housing, and the overall education culture. So, it's not just about the raw numbers but about how you see yourself fitting into such an environment. It might be useful to consider aspects like faculty-to-student ratios, the sense of community, available resources, and opportunities for individual attention as well.
