Most visited websites by college students

Hey everyone, I'm really curious about social media usage and digital consumption habits of college students. I'm just beginning to think about college and what my lifestyle might be like. Has anyone got any info or resources about which websites college students typically spend the most time on?

Although it can vary greatly based on individual habits and the specific needs of their academic programs, college students tend to frequent certain websites more than others.

Many students rely heavily on learning management systems like Canvas or Blackboard for course material, grades, and communication with their professors.

In addition, due to the COVID-19 pandemic that led to the rise of online learning, tools like Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams have seen widespread usage amongst the student community for attending classes, discussions, and group projects.

In the academic research context, students might be regularly visiting databases like JSTOR, PubMed, Google Scholar, or university libraries for their coursework and research projects.

For job hunting and networking, LinkedIn is highly used. Websites like InternMatch, Handshake, and Indeed may also come into play as students start looking for internships or job opportunities.

On the social media front, besides staples like SnapChat, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter; TikTok has become remarkably popular on many campuses.

Reddit is highly visited too. Many universities have their own subreddit where students discuss everything from course selection, to professors, to events happening on campus.

And finally, there's some entertainment-oriented websites that serve as a much-needed break from the academic rigors. This includes platforms such as YouTube, Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, or even Twitch for students interested in gaming streams.

However, it is critically important to keep a balance. While these sites can offer value in certain contexts, they can also become significant distractions if not managed effectively.
