Math enthusiast here! I'd love to know, in your experience, which math class in high school did you find the most challenging? I'm gearing up for senior year and am looking to push myself.
Many students find AP Calculus BC to be a particularly challenging math course in high school. This course covers a variety of advanced calculus topics including limits, derivatives, integrals, and the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus, but goes further to cover more sophisticated topics such as parametric, polar, and vector functions, and series. Due to the complexity of these topics, the course requires a strong understanding of precalculus, trigonometry, and basic calculus principles (the latter of which is covered in AP Calculus AB).
If you've already tackled AP Calculus BC, or are looking for something different, Multivariable Calculus (sometimes offered as part of a Post-AP math course) and Linear Algebra can also provide a significant challenge. Just keep in mind these courses are usually provided by high schools that offer an extensive list of advanced math classes, or they can be taken at a local community college.
Each course will require a unique and complex approach to problem-solving, abstract thinking, and mathematical understanding. If you're looking to push yourself and prepare for college-level math, these courses can definitely help with that.
