Workload for High School Subjects?

Just wondering - in which subjects do high school students typically end up writing the most letters/essays? Is it mostly the humanities, or are there other subjects I might not be considering?

Indeed, subjects that typically involve a significant amount of writing — including essays — are often those under the humanities umbrella. This includes English Literature and Language Arts classes, history courses (such as U.S. History, World History, or European History), and social science subjects like Sociology, Anthropology, or Political Science. These classes tend to involve a lot of analytical thought and communication through the written word.

However, writing isn't exclusive to these fields. You may also find that some science classes require extensive written pieces, especially in more advanced courses such as AP Biology, AP Chemistry, or Physics, where lab reports need to be written in detail. Additionally, you may be asked to write research papers or reflections in STEM fields as well.

Lastly, many schools offer courses specifically targeted at improving students' writing skills, such as Creative Writing, Journalism, or Advanced Composition. As you would expect, these courses involve quite a bit of writing, and could also be a good bet if you're looking to practice, develop, and showcase your writing abilities.
