Seeking a well-rounded college sports experience

Hey, I'm a junior who really loves sports, both as a participant and as a fan. I'm not focused on one sport, so I'm wondering, which college offers the most number of different sports?

Sure, it's great that you're interested in a diverse sporting environment! There are quite a few universities that offer a great range of sports for participation and spectating.

One such university is Stanford University. They have one of the most comprehensive athletics programs and boast over 36 varsity sports, which includes water polo, fencing, wrestling, and sailing, among others commonly seen sports like basketball and football. If you’re interested in intramural or club sports, they offer 30+ and 60+ options, respectively.

The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) is also well-known for its sports, with 21 varsity sports, including sand volleyball and rowing in addition to the traditional sports, plus dozens of club and intramural sports.

Harvard University too offers 42 varsity sports, the largest program in the country. From fencing and squash to sailing and rugby, they have plenty to offer providing a wide array of choices for student athletes.

Lastly, the University of Oregon, which is now part of the Big 10, is known for its enthusiastic sports culture. The school has 18 varsity sports, but if you count club and intramural options, the total reaches nearly 50.

All these colleges have vibrant sporting cultures and community participation, but also remember that the best college for you would be the one that aligns with your academic and social preferences, in addition to sports. So, while these universities have a diverse range of sports offerings, you should also consider other factors while making your college decision.
