What types of internships are available specifically for HBCU students?

Hey everyone, I'm starting to think about internships and I've heard that there are some programs specifically aimed at students from HBCUs. I'm trying to plan my summer and I want to take advantage of programs that might be more tailored to my background. Does anyone have a list or resource where I can find internships that target HBCU students? Any personal experiences with these would also be super helpful!

I'm happy to share that there are indeed numerous internship opportunities specifically designed for students from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Major companies and organizations recognize the unique perspectives HBCU students bring and offer targeted programs.

For instance, Google has the 'BOLD Internship Program' which is open to all undergraduates, but they've historically done outreach to HBCUs. Goldman Sachs has 'HBCU Possibilities Summit' for first and second-year college students, offering career development and networking with an eye towards securing internships.

Government agencies also provide internships for HBCU students, like The White House Initiative on HBCUs, which lists various federal internships and opportunities. Plus, organizations such as the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and the United Negro College Fund offer resources for internship opportunities.

You should also connect with your college's career services office; they often have a list of partnerships and internships available exclusively for your school's students.

Finally, don't forget to network! Reach out to HBCU alumni or professionals in fields you're interested in for advice and valuable leads. Personal recommendations can also play a crucial role in your internship search. Good luck!
