There's quite a bit of variation in what could be considered the "most successful" college major, as it significantly depends on your personal definition of success. If you're defining success strictly in terms of earning potential, majors in STEM fields -- like computer science, engineering, or data science -- tend to offer substantial starting salaries and are in high demand in our tech-driven world.

In recent years, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that some of the highest-paying jobs tend to be in health and medical fields, with professions such as surgeons, anesthesiologists, and psychiatrists topping the list. So, majors in pre-medicine or biological sciences could also lead to high earning potential.

However, it's important to consider that the highest-paying fields aren't necessarily the most satisfactory or fulfilling. For instance, humanities and social science majors might not have the same monetary gain early on, but they frequently report high job satisfaction levels and over time can achieve lucrative careers, for example, in law, business, academia, and other sectors.
