How can I earn a good living without a college degree?

I'm not so sure college is for me, and I'm considering going into the workforce straight after high school. So, what job can potentially bring in a reliable, high income without a college degree? Thinking more along the lines of trades and entrepreneurship. Any insights?

There are certainly careers where you can earn a good living without a college degree. In fact, many high-paying careers often require technical skills or entrepreneurial ventures rather than a traditional undergraduate degree.

For example, in the trades, Electricians, Plumbers, and HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) technicians are in high demand and their pay reflects that. These professions typically require a period of apprenticeship in order to learn the trade.

On the other hand, entrepreneurship can be more risky, but potentially more rewarding. You could start a business in any number of industries; it could be a product you create, a service you provide, or even a freelance business in an area you're passionate about, like photography or digital design. However, entrepreneurship requires a knack for risk-taking, hard work, and continuous learning.

Sales positions, such as real estate brokers or insurance agents, could also be a viable option without requiring a college degree. Salespersons with a good track record can make a significant income. But remember, income can vary greatly and is often directly tied to how many sales you make.

Lastly, the tech industry has various roles that pay well and don't necessarily require a four-year degree. Web developers, software testers, and even certain IT roles often value skills and experience over formal education.

Remember, while college isn't for everyone, education is a lifelong journey. Even in these roles, you may still consider short courses, certifications, or self-teaching methods to keep progressing and gaining new skills.
