High School Track Invitationals: Seeking the Best Events

Hi! I'm on my school's track and field team and we're looking to intensify our competition schedule. Does anyone have insights on the most exclusive high school track invitationals in the US? I'd love to know how they're run and what makes each one special!

Sure, happy to help with that!

One of the most prestigious track invitationals in the country is the Arcadia Invitational in California. Schools from all over the nation travel to compete in this meet, and it has even included international athletes. It's well-known for the strength of its competition field and its rigorous standards.

On the East Coast, the Penn Relays in Philadelphia is a major highlight. It's one of the oldest and most renowned track meets in the country, and it attracts top athletes not only from the US but around the world. The team relays particularly stand out, with teams battling for a coveted Penn Relays watch as the victor's prize.

There's also the Texas Relays in Austin, which is especially big with Southern schools. This invitational showcases some of the best sprinters in the nation and is well-regarded for its atmosphere and organization.

Finally, the Simplot Games in Idaho is the nation's largest indoor high school track meet. It draws in a couple thousand athletes each year and is unique since it's the only nationally televised high school track and field event.

Each of these events has their own environment and traditions, but they all shine due to the level of competition and organization. Apply early though, as some can be selective with who they accept. Any of these competitions would be a great addition to your team's schedule! Remember that aside from boasting prestige, these meets also provide an opportunity to face off against robust competition, and thus students can truly test their skills and gain valuable experiences.
