Age range of college applicants?

Just wondering, what's the most common age range for college applicants? I'm trying to figure out the typical applicant pool.

Most students apply to college during their senior year of high school, which usually corresponds to being 17-18 years old. However, colleges and universities accept students from a wide range of age groups.

There isn't a set age limit for applying to colleges. Many folks return to complete their degree later in life, such as adult learners who are going back to school to advance their careers, change fields, or fulfill personal goals. There are also early entrants who apply to colleges before the usual age, although such cases are relatively rare.

Even with the variance, a substantial majority of new college applicants do fall in the 17-19 year old range. For instance, the National Center for Education Statistics found that among students who started at a 4-year college in the 2016-17 school year, 74% were 19 or younger. However, remember that this doesn't fully represent the diversity of college applicants, as some are enrolled in community colleges or part-time programs.

So in essence, the college applicant pool is quite diverse, but a significant majority of applicants tend to be in the traditional college-going age of 17-19.
