Most popular social media platforms among college students?

Gonna be a freshman in college next year and I was wondering – what are the most popular social media apps on college campuses these days? Is it still Instagram and Snapchat, or are there new ones I should know about?

Different colleges may have different trends, but generally speaking, a few platforms have become quite popular among college students these days.

One app that seems to have grown in popularity is TikTok - it's a platform where users can share and view short video clips on any topic, ranging from educational insights to entertainment skits. It has become extremely popular among college students due to its interactive nature and diverse content.

Preferring more visually oriented platforms, college students still favor Instagram and Snapchat. Instagram Stories and the newer feature, Reels, have played a significant role in keeping this platform engaging for college students. Snapchat, with its focus on real-time interactions and features like Snap Map, Pokemon-Go-like games, and Bitmoji, continues to be popular.

Twitter has always been a mainstay, particularly for following breaking news and participating in broader discussions, while LinkedIn is the go-to platform for students looking at internships, job prospects, and networking.

Recently, Clubhouse, an audio-chat social media app, has been gaining traction, particularly for those interested in joining live discussions on various topics.

Also, Reddit has communities or "subreddits" for nearly every university, which can be a great way to connect with fellow students and discuss topics relevant to your school.

Remember, while social media can be a useful tool, it's essential to focus on its positive and productive aspects and avoid getting overwhelmed by the digital world. Balance is key!
