When are final exams for most colleges?

I'm really fascinated by how different post-secondary education can be from high school. Does anyone know when most colleges have their final exams? It would help with making plans early. Thanks much in advance.

Most colleges in the United States follow a semester system, having two main academic periods: the fall semester and the spring semester.

In general, the fall semester begins in late August or early September and ends in mid-December, comprising final exams usually taken in the first two weeks of December.

On the other hand, the spring semester typically begins in mid-January and ends in early May, with final exams most commonly scheduled in late April or the first week of May.

However, keep in mind that every institution's academic calendar can vary slightly. Specific dates for final examination periods are often available on the college's academic calendar, usually accessible on their official website. Especially considering that some courses may have take-home finals or final papers due instead of typical final exams. Plus, schools with trimesters or quarters instead of semesters will have a different schedule entirely.

It would be wise to check the specific dates for each institution of interest so you can plan accordingly.
