Which major requires the most years in college?

Just curious here. Which college major would typically require the most years of study? I'd like to know what I might be getting into if I decide to follow more long-term disciplines. Thanks!

Majoring in medicine or related fields often require the most years of study. Pre-med itself is not a major, rather, it is a track consisting of prerequisite courses required for medical school admission. Generally, being a medical doctor requires four years of undergraduate study, four years of medical school, and then three to seven years in residency training depending on the specialty.

Furthermore, careers in law, dentistry, veterinarian studies, pharmacy, and academia (such as becoming a professor) also require several years of postgraduate study after a four year bachelor's degree.

In most cases, the completion time for these disciplines correlates with the complexity and importance of the job, as well as the level of responsibility it carries. It's worth keeping in mind, however, that certain other variables can influence the timeline, such as your educational institution's specific requirements, the speed of your own progress through the coursework, and any internships or experiences you might participate in.
