Which colleges demand the most work?

Hey y'all, I'm curious to know if certain colleges are notorious for their demanding workload. I don't shy away from a challenge, but I want to ensure a proper work-life balance in college. Which colleges would you say demand the most work from their students?

Certainly, every college will present its challenges and the workload will largely depend on your chosen major, but there are indeed some institutions that are commonly cited for their hefty academic demands.

Among them is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), renowned for its intense curriculum, particularly in STEM fields. Similarly, the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) is known for a challenging workload, especially in science and engineering.

The Ivy League isn't to be left out of this list. Princeton University, for instance, has a reputation for being academically rigorous, with an emphasis on independent work - including a senior thesis requirement for all students. Columbia University’s famous Core Curriculum, which encompasses almost 1/3 of a student's academic requirement, is no small task - it aims to provide students with a classical, cross-discipline education that can be pretty intensive.

Stanford University, despite the sunny California climate, also has demanding academics, especially in the fields of Computer Science and Engineering.

However, it's important to remember that colleges generally provide ample support to help students manage the academic load, including tutoring centers, study groups, and academic advisors. In addition, over time, students learn to adapt to the rhythm of college life and develop solid study strategies that help them juggle the workload. Just be sure to consider your academic ability and resilience when applying to schools noted for their rigor!
