Why do students taking daily classes often struggle?

So, I've heard that college students who have daily classes often have a hard time. Is there a particular reason for this? Does it have to do with the workload, or is it just a lot to manage? How did those of you who had daily classes cope? Thanks!

There could be several contributing factors to why students with daily classes may find things challenging. One primary reason is indeed the workload. With daily classes, students have less "down time" in which to process information, complete assignments, and study. Getting new information daily doesn't leave a lot of time for holistic learning and consolidation of new knowledge outside of the classroom.

Another factor is time management, as you've mentioned. With a packed schedule, balancing these daily classes along with extracurriculars, internships, possibly part-time work and maintaining a social life becomes a feat of scheduling and prioritizing. Even regular self-care can be difficult to fit into such demanding schedules.

But it's all manageable with the right strategies. Planning and organization are key here. Utilizing tools like planners, calendars, and task management apps to map out what needs to be done and when can be a lifesaver. Blocking out regular time for studying, relaxation, and other activities can help create a balanced schedule.

Additionally, effective study habits can also go a long way in helping manage the tension of daily classes. Techniques like spaced repetition, active recall, and the Pomodoro method can make study sessions more productive and efficient. Finally, taking care of physical and mental health is of utmost importance as well. Regular exercise, a healthy diet, adequate sleep, mindfulness practices, and maintaining supportive social connections all have positive impacts on handling stress and performing academically.

Remember that while difficult, daily classes can also provide the benefit of regular engagement with course content and can keep the material fresh in students' minds. It can certainly be a lot to manage, but with the right strategies and consistent effort, it is certainly doable.
