Social Media Preferences Among High Schoolers

Hey everyone, I've been thinking about how to make a strong digital footprint and I am curious. What are the most prevalent social media platforms used by us high school students currently?

Hello! Based on what I've seen, there are a handful of social platforms that are quite in vogue among high school students right now.

First, Instagram continues to dominate, especially for sharing photos, short videos (thanks to Reels), and stories. TikTok is another platform where high school students spend a lot of their time. It's known for its trendy short-form videos that span a wide range of categories like comedy, dance, and educational content.

Snapchat still remains popular for quick photo and video sharing, and also has a unique range of AR features that many high schoolers enjoy. Twitter is also widely used for sharing thoughts, engaging in conversations, and following trends or viral topics.

Additionally, there's a rising trend towards platforms like Discord, which are more community-oriented and often used for group discussions, particularly around shared interests like gaming, TV shows, or study groups. Finally, remember LinkedIn is also a valuable platform for students looking to build their professional network, seek internships or prepare for future career opportunities.

Your chosen platforms should align with your interests and goals, whether that's keeping up with friends, networking for future job prospects, or sharing your hobbies and interests with a larger community. Regarding digital footprint, it's crucial to remember to maintain a responsible and positive online presence, as colleges and prospective employers may look at your social media profiles.
