What's the richest high school?

I'm doing a research project on education and wealth disparity. Does anyone know which high school is considered the richest in terms of funding and resources?

The concept of the "richest" high school can be tricky to nail down as it largely depends on how you measure wealth. From a purely financial perspective, yes, some schools have more funding due to the wealth of their surrounding area or because they're privately funded. That being said, one frequently cited example is Phillips Academy Andover, a private, coeducational high school located in Massachusetts.

Phillips Andover's endowment is significant (around $1 billion as of a few years ago), which allows the school to dedicate enormous resources to student scholarships, campus improvements, faculty salaries, and academic resources. However, it's worth remembering that while financial resources can offer opportunities, they are not the sole determinants of a supportive and enriching educational experience.

For instance, some public schools in affluent areas may not have sizable endowments but still have substantial resources because of their location. For example, the Scarsdale Public School system in New York and other similar districts are known for their high property taxes, which directly impact the funding and resources available to the schools.

Yet, wealth and quality of education always do not go hand in hand, and there is a broader conversation about wealth disparities in education. This mostly reveals that many public schools are underfunded and could use more resources to support their students.
