States with the highest number of high school graduates

I wanted to know which states have the highest number of high school graduates. Do these states also have higher rates of college admissions? Any insights would be greatly appreciated.

According to research, the states with the highest numbers of high school graduates usually tend to be those with the largest populations. For instance, larger states such as California, Texas, and Florida consistently rank at the top in terms of sheer numbers of high school graduates.

However, the percentage of high school graduates who proceed to college can widely differ from state to state. Factors like socioeconomic environment, state education policies, availability of post-secondary institutions, and cultural emphasis on higher education come into play.

As an example, in states like Massachusetts and New Jersey, a high percentage of high school graduates end up enrolling in college, owing in part to the density of educational institutions and strong academic culture in these areas. On the other hand, in some Southern and Western states, the percentage of high school graduates proceeding to college can be lower, even if the total number of high school graduates is significant.

One important note: a state having a large number of high school graduates doesn't necessitate the same state to have higher rates of college admissions. Places with a high concentration of universities and colleges may see a higher percentage of high school graduates going to college, regardless of the overall number of high school graduates. Hence, it's essential to look at both absolute numbers and percentages when analyzing this data.
