Difficulty Level of High Schools in Ohio

Hi everyone, I've been trying to look into the challenges of various high schools. Has anyone seen how Ohio high schools fare in the Washington Post's most challenging high schools list? It would be great to get a sense of what I'm up against.

It's important to note that the way the Washington Post rankings system works is unique, so just because a school is or isn't on the list doesn't necessarily mean it's better or worse than others. The Washington Post places a significant emphasis on the number of Advanced Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), and Advanced International Certificate of Education (AICE) tests taken each year, divided by the number of students graduating. It's effectively a measurement of how many of these college-level tests are being taken by students, rather than how well they're doing in these exams or other aspects of the high-school curriculum.

Ohio high schools do frequently make lists of top schools, as many offer robust AP and IB programs, and students participate in those programs in significant numbers. This is seen in schools such as Indian Hill High School, Wyoming High School, and Bexley High School, among others.

Do remember, however, that these rankings are just one potential measure of a school's academic strength. Other expert rating services, such as U.S. News, utilize different criteria for their rankings, such as graduation rates and state-required test performance, alongside AP and IB exams. These may also be of interest to review. It's always to your benefit to look for a high school that will push you academically while also fostering an enriching and supportive environment. Good luck with your search!
