Intense STEM Courses in High School - Suggestions?

Hey everybody, I'm a STEM enthusiast and I'm looking to challenge myself next semester. I want to know, in your experience, what are the most rigorous STEM courses I can take during high school?

You certainly have a commendable desire to challenge yourself in the STEM fields! Picking rigorous courses typically involves selecting classes that provide in-depth coverage of the material, require critical thinking, and often, have a significant lab component.

In math, you can take Calculus AB or BC, if they are offered, or courses related to Linear Algebra or Differential Equations. These courses provide an excellent base for many STEM fields.

Science courses with lab components, such as AP Physics C, AP Biology, and AP Chemistry, often offer the intensity and critical thinking skills necessary in STEM.

If your high school offers them, consider taking advanced computer science classes, which could include topics like Java programming, artificial intelligence, or data structures.

Engineering courses, if available, are another potential choice. This might cover topics such as principles of engineering, aerospace engineering, or biomedical engineering.

Some high schools have partnerships with local colleges or universities, and they allow high school students to take courses at the college level. This is worth checking out as they might offer more advanced courses than those offered at your high school.

Finally, look into independent study or research options. Often, these are more self-directed but allow for exploration of particular topics of interest at a deeper level.

Remember, the goal is not just to challenge yourself but to explore your interests within STEM. So, go with the subjects that excite your curiosity and match your career aspirations or college majors you're considering. Best of luck with your STEM journey!
