Most popular dreams among high school students

What dreams do most high school students have? Wondering if there are any studies or surveys about this?

From what I've seen and heard, the dreams of high school students are extremely diverse, reflecting their varied interests. However, certain aspirations tend to be particularly prevalent.

Many high school students dream about getting into a good college or university. This may include an Ivy League or top-tier school for some, or simply a college that offers a strong program in their field of interest for others.

Relating to this, academic success is another common dream. This might mean achieving a high GPA, scoring well on SAT or ACT exams, or excelling in a specific subject or field, such as science or the arts.

Moving beyond academics, high school students frequently dream of pursuing a specific career. Common aspirations include becoming a doctor, lawyer, engineer, or entrepreneur. Some students may also have dreams relating to sports, music, art, or other areas of passion, with goals such as becoming a professional athlete, renowned artist, successful musician, etc.

Finally, personal goals relating to traveling, exploring new cultures, navigating independence, or making a difference in the world are common dreams among high school students.

Remember that each student’s dreams are unique and influenced by numerous factors, so it's important to support them in their journeys. While there is certainly some research on this subject, talking with students about their dreams provides essential personal insight as well.
